Thomas still haunted by painful Rash

- BY JEREMY CROSS

THOMAS TUCHEL is desperate for revenge against Manchester United after they inflicted the most painful defeat of his managerial career.

Marcus Rashford’s lastgasp penalty sent Tuchel’s Paris Saint Germain out of the Champions League in March 2019.

Blues boss Tuchel said: “After that match I was two days in a very dark place, not speaking to anybody.

“Am I a good loser? I love to turn it around and this is what we will hopefully get.

“If we get a win out of this game, it is huge for us and if they get a win, it is huge for them to increase the difference between us.”

OLE GUNNAR SOLSKJAER has been handed a clash with Zlatan Ibrahimovic as his birthday present after Manchester United were drawn against AC Milan in the Europa League.

United have been paired with the Italian giants in the last 16 and will have to stop their former striker to keep their Euro bid alive.

Solskjaer, who turned 48 yesterday, admits his players will face a tough test when it comes to stopping Milan and Ibrahimovic, saying: “It’s a nice birthday gift, isn’t it?

“We do have the tradition of making it hard for ourselves in draws.

“It’s one of the those draws again that you feel could be a Champions League game.

“It’s good for us to have these games to look forward to.

“This team needs these challenges and we enjoy the challenges and we embrace them.

“The tradition and history of AC Milan, it’s a great club that we welcome and it’s a great stadium that we go to. So we’re looking forward to it.

“Zlatan, of course, I’ve been so impressed by how his career has gone.

“He suffered a careerthreatening injury when he was here but came back from it and went to the MLS, then to Milan and has really lifted them.

“They’re on the up and have done really well so far this season.”

AUSTIN MacPHEE is back in football with Danish champions Midtjylland.

The 41-year-old former Hearts coach has joined the Super League side in the role of ‘special trainer’ as part of Brian Priske’s backroom team.

MacPhee, who will continue as assistant to Ian Baraclough with Northern Ireland, has been out of club football since leaving Tynecastle last summer.

He arrived at Hearts in 2016 as Ian Cathro’s No.2 and went on to have a short spell as caretaker boss in 2019 following the sacking of Craig Levein.

But he won just one of six matches before Daniel Stendel’s appointment.
