Take Kerr... Arbroath’s great form worries Ayr

-

AYR player-boss Mark Kerr has warned his Honest Men they are facing the Championship’s form team today.

Kerr is wary of Arbroath and reckons his men will need to up their game against them to get their season back on track.

He said: “A few weeks ago Arbroath were close to the bottom of the table and we were just outside a promotion play-off place.

“Things have turned around and we now find ourselves below them.

“This game gives us the chance to address that. Arbroath are undefeated in seven games and are on the best run of any team in this league.

“We have not been able to put any momentum together but we have games in hand. If we can win this one and get points from our games in hand then we will shoot back up the table”

Campbell said: “Ayr have dropped down but I am not reading too much into that, especially as they’ve played less games than the teams around them.

“Some people may look at this one and think that Arbroath should be favourites as we are on a very strong run but I do not see it that way.

“Ayr are the home side and they have plenty of good players.”

A win could see the Red Lichties enter the top half of the table but Campbell is not getting over excited at the prospect.

He explained: “It could happen but other results would need to work in our favour as well.

“We’ll just concentrate on Arbroath picking up points as our priority remains putting more points between us and the teams below.”

LEEDS’ all-time top scorer Peter Lorimer is in a hospice with illness.

Rumours about the former Scotland winger circulated on social media on Thursday and the club issued a statement to update their fans on the 74-year-old’s condition.

The Premier League club said: “Sadly we can confirm that Peter Lorimer is currently in a hospice battling a long-term illness.

“Peter, his wife Sue and their family would like some privacy at this time but also want to thank Leeds fans across the world.”

The Scot made 676 appearances for Leeds in two spells with 238 goals.
