Edinburgh-based club Team United, which supports young people with autism.

Asked if he was joining the Hoops after Euro 2020, the 57-year-old said: “I will be going on a long holiday after the Euros.

“And I am contracted with Scotland until 2022, when I’ll hopefully be taking us to the World Cup in Qatar.”

Clarke insisted there was no club job in football that could tempt him to quit Scotland after leading his team to history with a play-off final win in Belgrade last November.

But the former Kilmarnock boss remains third favourite for the post behind Manchester City Under-23 boss Enzo Maresca and interim gaffer John Kennedy.

Clarke was the early frontrunner following Lennon’s departure. As well as twice leading Killie to club-record points tallies, he secured West Brom’s highest Premier League finish and took Reading to their first FA Cup semi-final in 88 years.

Meanwhile, England boss Gareth Southgate reckons football across the UK would receive a massive boost from hosting the 2030 World Cup.

Prime Minister Boris Johnson has thrown his weight behind a joint UK and Ireland bid, pledging £2.8million to the cause.

The FAs of Scotland, England, Ireland, Wales and Northern Ireland are conducting a feasibility study ahead of making a formal bid.

Southgate said: “For everybody that would be an amazing experience.”

He also hailed the UK government making a £25m commitment to grassroots football.

Southgate added: “That sort of sum going into facilities is really important as well.”
