boys Arron and Evan, 20, she admitted she wasn’t impressed when Jimmy offered her signed Wings photos and T-shirts. the time and the discs had no street cred.” When Margaret moved to Houston, the discs were put in the loft but got water damaged.

She said: “During the first lockdown I was clearing out the garage and found them, and decided I wanted to get them restored. I’m a fan of the show and they’ve done such a great job.

“The best thing is showing them to my dad Danny, who is 83 and has Parkinson’s and cancer. He was so teary and emotional. I know some people think they are just pop memorabilia but to my family they are a very strong memory.

“Back then you didn’t take photos all the time and I don’t even have a photo of me and Jim. We never thought he wouldn’t still be here so these discs are really important.”

Jimmy was very close to Margaret’s side of the family. Her dad Danny Gill’s grandparents were killed in the Blitz. He only survived because he was in a bed recess.

His mum and dad, Sadie and Jimmy, brought up Sadie’s brothers and her sister Lillian, who was Jimmy’s mum.

Jimmy’s brother Jack has the other two discs and Margaret is hoping being on the show might help them get back in touch. Margaret is also hoping Sir Paul will be watching. “It would be nice if he called,” she said.

And she thinks Clydebank should honour Jimmy, saying: “He moved to London when he was young to achieve his dream but his heart was always in Scotland. He is buried in Dalnottar Cemetery but a statue would be nice.”

The Repair Shop continues on BBC1 today at 4.30pm.

BRENTON West is the resident silversmith and expert photographer but was excited at the prospect of restoring the Wings discs. He has several of the group’s albums, including Wings Over America. Brenton said: “I’m a big fan so it was quite special to hold a platinum record that was owned by one of the members of the band. “He was an extremely talented guitar player, sadly lost at a very young age. “These discs have a significant place in pop history and deserved to be conserved – it was wonderful to be able to help with this, and to preserve the memory of Jimmy.”
