Robbie has Hearts set on ending trophy wait

- BY DARREN JOHNSTONE

ROBBIE NEILSON admits he is hoping it will be third time lucky for Hearts in the Scottish Cup this season.

The Gorgie outfit are well on course to seal their first target of clinching the Championship title and an immediate return to the top-flight.

But Hearts are also returning to Scottish Cup action on Tuesday when they travel to Brora Rangers for their delayed second round clash, with Neilson eyeing another run.

The Tynecastle club lost the last two finals to Celtic as the Parkhead side romped to an unprecedented quadruple Treble.

Neilson, whose side travel to Arbroath on Saturday, wants a flawless end to the league season but insists the cup is also on their mind.

He said: “It was a big step last weekend with the win over Ayr but as I’ve said to the boys, we’ve got seven games to win and that’s it.

“Seven games left and we’re expected to win every game and that’s what we intend to do. We’ve got the Scottish Cup coming up too and we want to get as far as we can in that.

“We want to try and win it, we’ve been there twice to the final recently, so it’s about winning games and finding ways to win games.”

Neilson, meanwhile, insists a clean sheet in last weekend’s 2-0 victory over Ayr was fitting as keeper Craig Gordon made his 200th appearance for the club across two spells.

He said: “I was delighted to get the clean sheet against Ayr, that’s the base for winning leagues.

“I was pleased for Craig as well with it being his 200th appearance, so it was nice to get a clean sheet.

“He told me that’s 66 clean sheets he’s had now so he’s obviously counting!”
