Geof and I are going through a jigsaw phase
IN THE past, weekends were normally when I gigged the most, so I’ve never really been somebody who’s had weekends off. That’s all changed of course since the pandemic.
These days, Friday evenings are all about treating ourselves to a proper film. Geof and I really look into it and try to find one we’ll both enjoy.
My Saturday morning is usually taken up with writing a column. I like to get it done by the afternoon so I have the rest of the day to myself.
Unfortunately, these days, the only way we can get out of the house is to go for a walk. So, it’s wellies on and then off to one of the local green spaces. I’m desperate to go to the sea but we can’t.
If I’m staying indoors, I’ll get my paints out or do some art on the iPad.
The highlight of my Sunday has been The Great Pottery Throw Down. That’s been one of my sanitysaving stepping stones I’ve used to get me through the weeks. It’s such a joyful programme and I think host Siobhan McSweeney is wonderful.
Outside of telly and art, Geof and I have been going through a bit of a jigsaw phase. It’s crippling. I’ve got jigsaw neck, he’s got jigsaw back.
We tend to listen to an Agatha Christie book on Audible. I also try to see my daughter, Phoebe. She doesn’t live too far away so we meet up for a socially distanced walk now and again.
Fingers crossed I’ll be touring again soon. I’m hoping to set off on my new tour Sixty! (FFS!) in September. I’m 61 but that’s pandemics for you.
I look forward to being able to visit art galleries again. I also wouldn’t mind nipping to the hairdresser’s. That’s the other thing about pandemics – you’ve got to bleach your own hair. Watch Jenny in Drawers Off, weekdays, 5.30pm on Channel 4
