White: The divers are hurting us but we won’t go down

- BY SCOTT BURNS

JORDAN WHITE has seen Ross County get done by diving but insisted injustice will fuel their fight to make sure they aren’t the ones who end up going down.

Boss John Hughes had a go at Martin Boyle as his actions helped Hibs to a controversial win at Dingwall last weekend.

It was the latest controversial spot-kick that has gone against the Staggies recently.

White said: “It was disappointing because where I was I could see it wasn’t a penalty. The second one, he has tried to con the referee again.

“We can’t change decisions or results and we need to move on. We can only look after ourselves and if we believe in ourselves we’ll have a more than capable squad to stay in the division.”

White insisted going down too easily isn’t something he is comfortable with.

He said: “It doesn’t come naturally for me to do that. It is maybe something we need to start thinking about, I don’t know.

“There are certainly players who do it more often than others and maybe get away with it because they are better at it.”

White hopes County are the better team at St Johnstone and can boost their own survival hopes. The frontman said: “It will be a good game. They’re on a good run and will still be buzzing from winning the cup and they can still push for a top-six place.

“It is a massive game for them but it is massive for us too.”

White will go up against his former Inverness team-mates Jamie McCart and Shaun Rooney.

He said: “I will be texting them and winding them up. I look forward to seeing them and playing against them. Shaun has done brilliantly and I’m really pleased for him.”

White’s partnership with Billy Mckay has given County a cutting edge in recent weeks.

He added: “I know nine times out of 10 I’m going to get a good chance because we have quality in the squad.

“With Billy up there it makes my life easier and we have Oli Shaw on the bench coming on.”
