COPPER CAN SHINE

- BY GARRY OWEN

COPPERLESS (3:47) can really show his mettle in the Ray Wonnacott Hurdle at Taunton.

Olly Murphy’s six-year-old just denied the talented Hooper when last seen at Market Rasen in October.

The gelding clearly has a bright future so he can defy a welter-burden.

VUE CAVALIERE (3:17) can shade a trappy novices’ handicap chase for Suzy Smith. The mare should relish returning to 2m 4f after her good second to Go As You Please at Warwick.

The Newton King Handicap Chase is even trickier but I’m siding with DENTLEY DE MEE (4:15). Nick Williams’ horse ran a blinder when second to Ebony Gale in a warm three-miler here. The gelding can resume winning ways over an extra two furlongs.

Robin Dickin’s GALACTIC

POWER (4:45) looks stellar in the Porter Dodson Handicap Hurdle. The 11-year-old put in his best shift for a while when chasing home Midnight Mary at Huntingdon.

The gelding still lurks on an pretty attractive mark so he can strike in a slightly weaker contest.

Pam Sly is hitting form so I’m shooting for GROUSEMAN (3:25) in the two-miler at Wetherby.

The hurdler improved again when second to Can’t Stop Now in a decent event at Fakenham.

The gelding has been given plenty of time to mature so he can make a winning handicap debut.

ROXBORO ROAD (3:55) is the path to profit in the competitive Racing TV Handicap Chase.

Ben Haslam’s charge put in a personal best over fences when routing Shallow Run at Musselburgh. The gelding is relatively unexposed for his skilled handler so he can make light of an 8lb penalty.

LIGHT FLICKER (4:25) rates a confident selection in the novices’ handicap hurdle.

Ryan Potter’s gelding stayed in form over fences when bolting up from Mahler’s First at Uttoxeter.

MIDNIGHT MARY (3:10) is the best bet in the mares’ handicap hurdle at Huntingdon. The five-year-old is open to progress as a stayer.
