Couple break off engagement after going through “rough patch”
SUPERSTAR Jennifer Lopez yesterday confirmed she has split from her baseball star fiance Alex Rodrigues.
J-Lo and A-Rod said they were “better as friends” after four years together and a two-year engagement. The couple had been plagued by rumours of his relationship with reality TV star Madison LeCroy, 30. Last month, they said they were “working through a rough patch”.
In a joint statement yesterday, the couple said: “We have realised we are better as friends and look forward to remaining so.
“We will continue to work together and support each other on our shared businesses and projects.
“We wish the best for each other and one another’s children. The only other comment we have is to say is thank you to everyone who has sent kind words and support.”
Jen, 51, has 13-year-old twins Emme and Max from her marriage to Marc Anthony. Alex, 45, has two daughters, Natasha, 16, and Ella, 12, with ex-wife Cynthia Scurtis.
In February, reports in the US linked Alex to reality star Madison, who dismissed the claims insisting the pair were merely acquaintances.” Jennifer was shooting new film Shotgun Wedding on location in the Caribbean while Alex prepared for the upcoming baseball season in Miami.
They released a joint statement at the time, saying: “All the reports are inaccurate. We are working through some things.”
But last week Jennifer was pictured without her £3.8million engagement ring after twice postponing their wedding due to the pandemic.
