NICOLA Sturgeon’s warning that Scotland faces a “big risk” of new Covid variants if international travel restrictions are lifted fast got people talking.
The First Minister admitted allowing travel abroad “too quickly” last year let the virus reseed in the population.
Speaking on Sky, the SNP leader said Scots face living longer with global travel restrictions.
Our readers took to Facebook to have their say.
Jimmy Millar said: “Yes I agree, the world is awash with this virus. We should be ultra-cautious.”
Rosie Mcmillan agreed: “Slow but sure and that way we won’t go back into another lockdown.”
Siobhan Riddell wrote:
“I’m due to fly to Ibiza in June and I’d happily not go. Focus on restrictions being lifted in Scotland first.”
But Martha Smith said: “No. We need to learn to live with this, it’s not going anywhere. People travel for all sorts of reasons, not just holidays. People have family abroad too.”
Gordon Moonie added: “We’ve just spent a year scared to live, time to get back to normality.”
