Pep needs big names for big games at shell-shocked City

-

PEP GUARDIOLA insists he needs more from key players such as Raheem Sterling and Ferran Torres after Manchester City’s Quadruple hopes were shattered.

City are praying Kevin De Bruyne will not be out for too long after he limped off with an ankle problem but Guardiola wants others to step up to ensure another trophy isn’t lost.

He said: “The others will step up. We were without Kevin for part of the season and he came back stronger. Now we must wait for the doctors to find out the pain he has.”

Sterling and Torres were way below their best but Guardiola said: “The players put everything into it and that is enough for me.

“In England it is so tough. We are sad because we wanted to reach the final but we’ve played a lot of games and the guys have limits, both mentally and physically.

“The players know if they are playing well. I never point the finger.”
