Looks like Jet-set go for Lions hitman Jay
JAY EMMANUEL-THOMAS is likely to spread his wings away from Livingston this summer.
The striker nicknamed ‘the Jet’ has got Livi flying high in the top six after they also made the Betfred Cup Final.
Boss Davie Martindale admitted his star – who scored twice in the weekend penalty shoot-out Scottish Cup exit to Aberdeen – has indicated he’ll move on at the end of his deal.
Emmanuel-Thomas, whose likely destination is Thailand, said: “There is always a possibility of moving on. We still have games to finish and that is the main focus at the moment, to play as well as I can until the season is over.
“I will deal with what happens after that. I’m 30 now and you always have to look to see what is potentially on the cards at this stage in my career.”
The former Arsenal youngster was set for a lucrative move to the Far East before the pandemic struck.
Emmanuel-Thomas said: “I was going to China in February last year and as soon as news of the pandemic came out I knew it was a no-go.
“It was an awkward situation, football stopped in March. I had to wait for the season to resume and finish and then pre-season. It was knock-down after knock-down but I knew I’d get an opportunity at some stage and I had to be ready.
“Coming here helped me to come on leaps and bounds. I’m thankful to the club and Davie for bringing me in and the boys for being great team-mates.”
