Both sides finished with 10 men after red cards for Andrew McDonald of Peterhead and the Fifers’ Craig Watson.

Blue Toon keeper Joshua Rae had produced heroics but Agnew’s crossshot curled past him and he said: “I just put the ball into an area to see what would happen.

“I had to do something different as their keeper had saved everything else from me.

“It felt like it was one of those afternoons where you just cannot score and whilst it was a bit lucky it is a great three points. We just need one more win to finish top half now.”
