DUNF’LINE .... QoS .................

LEWIS MAYO was thrilled to help Dunfermline boost their play-off hopes – and earn bragging rights over his Rangers pals.

The defender produced a solid display as Pars beat Queens to go back into the top four with their first victory in eight outings.

The result was even sweeter for on-loan Mayo, up against four of his fellow Ibrox academy graduates in James Maxwell, Dapo Mebude, Ciaron Dickson and Rhys Breen.

Mayo said: “There were quite a lot of them out there and I obviously know them quite well.

“I’ll have the bragging rights for a wee while.

“The chat in the build-up was quite quiet but the next time I see them I’ll have the upper hand.

“James got their goal, he’s a good player and he showed his quality at times.

“They’re all good players with exciting futures ahead of them. We’ve all spent a lot of time in the academy getting ready, now it’s about going and getting what you need, playing competitive games.

“But also being a part of a team, be competitive and face the pressure of having to perform.”

Dom Thomas had a hand in all three Pars goals for Kevin O’Hara, Fraser Murray and Ewan Henderson, with Maxwell replying to make it 2-1.

Queens gaffer Allan Johnston said: “Dom was probably the difference between the teams.

“They started well and got the goal, we started to get back in the game and created chances of our own but their keeper made a couple of really good saves.

“We just need to make sure we finish the season strongly and finish as high as possible.”
