THE BBC has already received, at my time of writing, 122,000 complaints about its clearing of its schedules to give wall-to-wall coverage over all its channels to the death of Prince Philip.

Undeterred, on Saturday it started its cap doffing and sycophantic TV coverage a full three hours before the funeral proper began.

I’m sure we’d all be very happy to die, aged 99, after a very privileged life, so was it necessary to have this outdated bunch of hooray Henrys paraded across our screens when a private ceremony would have sufficed for the immediate family? Eric Travers, Dunfermline
