Hopkins was lined up to join Del Boy
Actor John Challis has revealed Oscar winner Sir Anthony Hopkins was close to grabbing a role in Only Fools and Horses.
The Oscar-winning Welsh actor was due to play one half of the evil Driscoll brothers after telling writer John Sullivan he was a fan of the BBC comedy.
But Hopkins, 83, was shooting Silence of the Lambs and was unable to commit to the part.
John, who plays dodgy car dealer Boycie, said: “He is a big fan of the show and was really interested in doing it.
“He really would have been fantastic.”
John has launched his own personal website john-challis.com where fans can purchase his own Boycie branded poker set, his book and other gifts.
