NICOLA Sturgeon’s announcement that fighting Covid would come before pushing for independence if she was re-elected sparked a debate among Record readers.
The SNP leader said: “The first thing I will do is get back to working on the next stages of getting us out of lockdown.”
Record readers had their say on our Facebook page.
Lara Thomson wrote: “Seen the polls has she? Who is she trying to kid? If they get a majority she will declare it a mandate for independence within minutes. She does this at every election, because people are stupid enough to still fall for it.”
Wilma Dinning added: “Nicola has been saying that all along. No independence till we have Covid under control.”
And Russell Campbell said: “That is only because of public opinion. If she had her way we’d be out next month to vote for jumping off the cliff !!”
Patricia Anderson wrote: “She’s absolutely right. It’s Salmond that’s interfering and pushing for independence now with his pop-up party of misfits.”
