DEAN BURMESTER carded a brilliant closing 62 to claim his first win in four years at the Tenerife Open.

The South African started the final round one shot off the lead but soon hit the front and raced clear w i t h nine birdies to get to 25 under and win by five shots.

German Nicolai von Dellingsha­usen was runnerup, a shot clear of Poland’s Adrian Meronk and Finn Kalle Samooja.

Burmester said: “I’d obviously love to get in that top 100 in the world, it’s quite lucrative, so if I can get back there I’ll be very excited. “Hopefully I can go from strength to strength now. That will be my plan. “I won’t stop working hard and trying to get better.” Welshman Jamie Donaldson finished 10 shots off the lead after closing with a 65, two ahead of Scottish pair Scott Jamieson and Richie Ramsay, with England’s Paul Waring at 12 under.
