STEVEN GERRARD says his record-breaking side are making Rangers legends proud.

The Ibrox boss hailed his players after humbling the Hoops 4-1 to remain on course for an unbeaten Premiershi­p campaign.

The victory also made it six Old Firm games on the spin without defeat, a feat last achieved in 2002 when Alex McLeish was boss.

It’s the first time Celtic have failed to record a derby victory in a campaign for 21 years. And Gers also hit the Hoops for four for the first time since Ally McCoist’s side a decade ago.

Gerrard believes his team are following in the footsteps of giants but have earned their place alongside them. He said: “It’s been a while since you’ve seen that scoreline.
