LOSS CAN KICK US ON FOR SEMI SUCCESS
CALUM BUTCHER hopes being run ragged by Ross County will be the kick up the backside Dundee United need going into Saturday’s Scottish Cup semi-final.
United’s preparations for their Hampden clash with Hibs were wrecked by the Staggies.
That led to clear-the-air talks and Butcher said: “We’re very disappointed. We’ve had a long discussion and it’s got to be put to bed now – the focus has to be on the semi-final.
“There’s no better time to have a performance like that to gear you up towards a game. You obviously want to go in with confidence but sometimes these ones really kick you on. We have to play at the levels we have done for the majority of the season, we can’t drop them.
“A performance like that can actually be a good thing because you get that kick up the backside you need.”
“The levels need to be better and we have to be a bit more consistent.
“We can’t go from how good we were last week to that performance on Saturday.
“We take it on the chin, move on and know it’s a massive week ahead.
“You don’t get a lot of build-ups like this to games of this magnitude so we’ll take everything in and I’m 100 per cent sure we’ll have a reaction.”
