High time to Ton up the heat

BRIAN McLEAN knows draw specialists Morton must be more ruthless if they are to avoid relegation.

Ton face a play-off semifinal against League One promotion hopefuls Falkirk or Montrose after finishing second bottom of the Championship.

They were lowest scorers in the league with just 22 goals and drew each of their last four matches so defender McLean knows they must find a find a killer instinct when it matters.

He said: “We’ve been defending really well but goals make the difference.

“We’ve been drawing games but haven’t been able to nick the full three points often enough.

“Ultimately it went to the last game against Arbroath but we didn’t do enough to win that one either.

“We didn’t have enough attempts on goal to win.

“It’s something we’ll need to work hard on this week.

“We need to show as a group of players that we deserve to be in this league next year.”
