Joe out to stick it up Staggies
JOE CHALMERS is desperate to help Ayr United into the Premiership and prove Ross County were wrong to dump him.
Chalmers is still stung by his exit from the Staggies last October.
After helping Ayr avoid the relegation play-off on Friday, his sights are set on pointing the Honest Men up rather than down.
He said: “I still get frustrated thinking about having to leave County because I thought, when I was playing, I did well for them. Contrary to what some people think, I never actually wanted to leave but I found myself struggling even to make the squad.
“I never understood why I fell from favour, and that’s the frustrating part.”
Chalmers reckons the ambition of chairman David Smith and boss David Hopkin can help Ayr.
He said: “The chairman is ambitious and is putting good plans in place.
“It’s a brilliant club and the new manager has shown he’s a really top guy.”
