Ace loves to get involved in the kitchen Tom Kerridge
MOST Friday evenings, I try to be at Kerridge’s Bar & Grill in London. I try to touch base with all of the restaurants at least once a week – we’ve got The Hand & Flowers and The Coach in Marlow, and The Bull & Bear up in Manchester. Then, around 10.30pm, I drive back home to Marlow.
On Saturdays, I try really hard to make that crossover between work and my home life. Ace is beginning to understand what a weekend means. I’ve never had proper weekends in my working life, but I’m trying to build it in more now.
Saturdays are normally spent going into the restaurants in Marlow. Ace will come in and say hello with me and afterwards we’ll probably have some lunch at home, then spend some time in the park if it’s a nice sunny day.
If we’re eating at home, we will have omelettes or eggs. Ace loves to get involved in the kitchen. We might bake some cakes together too, or do a fun bike ride. For lots of people, weekends are associated with relaxing or having a drink, but I haven’t drunk in eight years.
On Sundays, we meet friends in the park. We’ve also got the Pub In The Park Festivals coming up. The next one is on July 24 in Chichester, with more to follow, so that will be a lot of weekends at food festivals. But our weekends are generally full of food and drink anyway. If we haven’t got any plans on a Sunday I’ll do a slow-cooked barbecue or a slow roast. During the week, I don’t normally cook. Beth prepares food for her and Ace, as I get in late. ●To find out more about Tom Kerridge’s Pub In The Park Festivals and to book tickets, go to pubintheparkuk.com
