Broonie: I’ll never change my style

- BY SCOTT BURNS

SCOTT BROWN last night insisted he won’t ever ditch his full-blooded approach – but reckons it’ll soon win over the Pittodrie boo-boys.

And he won’t be bringing the Celtic huddle to Aberdeen.

Brown makes his Dons debut in tonight’s Europa Conference League clash with BK Hacken.

For over 14 years, he was the catalyst for a successful Hoops side and his uncompromising

style would irritate opposition players and fans alike, especially in the Granite City where he was involved in flashpoints. But Brown has no intention of toning down or changing his game at the age of 36. He said: “I’ve had arguments with a few fans, not just at Aberdeen. “There have been a few at Celtic, Rangers, you name them. I’m not going to change my game for anybody. They know what I bring. I tackle and I’m there to win no matter who I play for. “Now I’m at Aberdeen, I’ll give 110 per cent. Winning drives me on and gives me that passion.” Brown hasn’t played in front of fans for more than a year and now he is looking forward to sampling a Covid sell-out at Pittodrie.

He said: “With almost 6,000 fans, it’ll be great for my first game at Pittodrie. It’s been almost a year and a half since I played in a stadium with supporters in it.

“It’s not the same. Football needs that passion and fans drive you on. They are the 12th man and they help you out. They make you dig that bit deeper.”

Brown accepts that Aberdeen will need them to get past a BK Hacken team who have hit form again in recent weeks in the Swedish league.

The captain said: “We need to get through Hacken. They will be two hard games, they have a new manager and are setting up a bit differently.

“They’ve had some good results recently and a few clean sheets as well. They will be confident the same as us.

“We are taking it one game at a time. We aren’t getting too focused on the group stages or what we can do throughout the season.

“We’re just focusing on Hacken.”
