Police are treating 31-year-old bride’s fall as ‘suspicious’ and arrest man, 27

A HONEYMOONE­R mum-to-be died after falling off cliffs on Arthur’s Seat.

Fawziyah Javed, 31, had her wedding reception just a couple of days earlier.

Emergency services raced to the scene in Edinburgh but she could not be saved.

Police last night confirmed they are treating the death as “suspicious” and that a 27-year-old man has been arrested as part of their inquiries.

A MAN has been arrested after a woman on her honeymoon fell to her death from Arthur’s Seat in Edinburgh.

Fawziyah Javed, who was believed to have been pregnant, fell from the hill at about 9pm on Thursday.

Police, paramedics and fire crews raced to the scene in Holyrood Park but the 31-year-old, from West Yorkshire, could not be saved.

Police said they were treating her death as suspicious and had arrested a 27-year-old man.

Fawziyah is understood to have celebrated her wedding reception with loved ones just days before the fall.

The event is believed to have taken place in West Yorkshire on Sunday before Fawziyah travelled to Scotland by train at the start of the week.

A source claimed that she was thought to be in the early stages of pregnancy before her death.

They also told how told how the young woman, who worked at Lyons Davidson Solicitors in Leeds, was heavily involved in charity work before getting married late last year.

Uniformed officers from West Yorkshire Police are believed to have been searching a property in Pudsey, between Bradford and Leeds, yesterday afternoon which is believed to be connected to the fatal fall.

Police Scotland confirmed that a man had been arrested as part of their enquiries. A spokespers­on said: “We received a report that a woman had fallen from Arthur’s Seat, Edinburgh, around 9pm on Thursday.

“Emergency services attended including the fire service and ambulance.

“The 31-year-old woman died at the scene a short time later and her death is being treated as suspicious.

“A 27-year-old man has been arrested and inquiries are ongoing.”

West Yorkshire Police were contacted for comment.
