James corden’s take on the old fave is a story for our age with cinders a career woman and a non-binary Fairy Godmother

the short-lived Netflix comedy-drama series Girlboss.

The original idea for the movie came from James Corden, who produced it alongside Leo Pearlman, Jonathan Kadin, and Shannon McIntosh.

Filming began in February 2020 at Pinewood Studios in Buckingham­shire but was suspended in March 2020 due to Covid.

Production resumed in August 2020 and concluded in September 2020. Originally destined for the cinemas, the delay led to it being sold to streaming service Amazon Prime Video.

SETTING

The jovial movie is set in a fictional English village and takes place between the 17th and 18th centuries, although the songs and the patter are definitely more 21st.

Although the interior scenes were all shot at Pinewood, Waddesdon Manor and the Rothschild House and Gardens in Buckingham­shire, were used for all the exterior scenes.

Netflix series, The Crown, and Oscar-winning Helen Mirren feature, The Queen, use Waddesdon Manor to double for Buckingham Palace and BBC series McMafia was also shot here.

CINDERELLA FLASH MOB

James Corden, Camila Cabello, Billy Porter and Idina Menzel brought traffic to a standstill in LA for a flash mob with a cover of Jennifer Lopez’s Let’s Get Loud.

As part of The Late Late Show, James, who was dressed as a giant mouse, and his Cinderella co-stars took part in a segment called Crosswalk The Musical, where they stopped traffic at an intersecti­on and performed the song.

The stunt to promote the movie release went viral, with some Twitter users loving it and others branding it as “irresponsi­ble and annoying”.
