QUOTE OF THE DAY
‘Henderson and Wright played a blinder. The sight of Henderson reduced to tears showed exactly what it means to these guys’
presentation on Sunday. Rangers have a strength in depth of squad with cover in all positions which none of the other clubs are able to compete with.”
Robert Robertson, Barnsley, took aim at Saints and said: “Callum Davidson’s team took it in turns to kick lumps out of Ryan Kent and referee Willie Collum quite literally stood by and allowed it to happen.
“The stramash after Rangers scored the penalty should have seen only Liam Craig booked. He was the instigator in it all and he should be ashamed of himself the way he threw himself to the floor.”
But Robert McEwan, Mount Vernon, said: “It must be great knowing you can more or less depend on getting a penalty when your struggling as Rangers were. Kent and Alfredo Morelos are untouchable, the modern-day John MacDonalds.”
On to Sunday’s derby and Rab Hunter, Dumfries, said: “While Scottish football has never been blessed with the greatest of officials, the handling of the game was horrendous, full of inconsistencies and double standards and, given it was shown live on TV, it was embarrassing. I thought we were trying to eliminate diving and cheating, not encourage and reward it.”
Ian McKendrick said: “I think Scottish refs should watch the English refs as our officials blow their whistle too often and don’t let the game flow.”
Kilmarnock sit second in the Championship but Jim McClean, Rothesay, said: “I have watched Killie games this season and Tommy Wright is kidding himself if he thinks their performances are adequate. I forecast we’ll be down in this division for a few years.”
We end with Raducanu’s incredible US Open victory and James Kennedy, Kilsyth, said: “Congratulations Emma on a fantastic achievement. And congratulations to Channel 4 for giving us the opportunity to witness this wonderful piece of history.”
