Rocker Sir Rod says new album is life story inspired by love and sex

- BY STUART MacDONALD

ELDERLY rocker sir Rod Stewart’ new album is full of songs about sex, he said.

The star announced yesterday that his latest record, called Tears of Hercules, will be released in November.

The 76-year-old, famed for his love of blonde-haired ladies, said many of the tracks were inspired by thoughts of love making while stuck at home during lockdown.

The first single from the album is called One More Time and Sir Rod said it was about wanting to sleep with an ex-lover.

The singer, married to model Penny Lancaster, told how he had drawn from his own colourful love life to write the song.

Speaking on BBC Radio Two, he said: “The story behind the song is you, know when you break up with somebody and the sex was amazing and you just want to do it one more time?

“That’s what the song is about. It’s happened to all of us, I’m sure.

“The songs are more or less life stories.

“Unfortunately, a lot of them have got to do with love and sex on this album. Well not unfortunately, that’s the way I was feeling.”

Celtic fan Sir Rod said his favourite track on the album, Touchline, was a footballinspired tribute to his Edinburgh-born dad Robert.

He said: “He was always on the touchline watching me and my brothers play in the same team.

“He would always be there on the touchline in the pouring rain and shouting abuse and advice.

“Now I find that I do that with my sons and hopefully my sons will do it with their sons. We love our football.”

Tears of Hercules will be released on November 12.
