NOBODY’S DONE IT BETTER

-

HONEY RYDER (PLAYED BY URSULA ANDRESS)

She set the template for Bond girls as she emerged from the ocean in a white bikini in the 1962 007 film. While the original Bond girl is independent and pulls a knife on Sean Connery’s Bond at first, he still saves the day as it’s the 60s, and has a steamy clinch with her in a towed boat.

PUSSY GALORE (HONOR BLACKMAN)

Not just unforgettable because of the name, the Bond Girl in 1964’s Goldfinger is the classic bad-girl-gone good. At the start of the film, she is part of Goldfinger’s team but turns against him after being forcibly kissed by Bond. She gets to have a romp with Bond under a parachute at the end of the film.

TRACY BOND (DAME DIANA RIGG)

Dame Diana played the only true Mrs James Bond in 1969’s On Her Majesty’s Secret Service. Daughter of an Italian crime lord with the upbringing of a European noble, she would have been a brilliant match for Bond had it not all ended so abruptly in tragedy.

MARY GOODNIGHT (BRITT EKLAND)

The field operative wants to be taken seriously by Roger Moore’s Bond in 1974’s The Man With the Golden Gun as he tries to take down Christopher Lee’s Scaramanga. Bond pushes her into a cupboard when he makes love with another woman and Scaramanga imprisons her and forces her to wear a bikini. But she gets revenge and gets her Bond.

JINX JOHNSON (HALLE BERRY)

The franchise came full circle in 2002’s Die Another Day as Halle gave a nod to Ursula Andress when she emerged from the sea in an orange bikini. But she is a trained killer and like Pierce Brosnan’s Bond she uses sex to try and get info from him.
