& FRED GO GREEK! Monday, STV, 9pm

A fter winning a TV Choice Award and with a clutch of nominations under their belts, TV’s chattiest foodies are back with an exploration of the Greek islands.

Gordon Ramsay, Gino D’Acampo and Fred Sirieix are on a mission to prove that Greece is home to some of the best dishes in Europe – while bickering and bantering in equal measure, of course.

The trio kick off in Crete where they dive for lobster, before travelling to Santorini for a mud bath in the island’s springs.

According to Gordon, the series is, “everything you’ve come to love about me, Gino and Fred creating havoc and cooking great food in beautiful destinations.” Yum.

THE FOOD

When it comes to finding the very best ingredients, a trip to the shops sometimes just isn’t enough, so the trio learn how to dive for lobster in Santorini – although Gino gives up to sunbathe while Fred and Gordon do all the hard work.

“Fishing for seafood is always a joy,” said Gordon. “The waters were crystal clear and the produce incredible. The octopus and lobster was some of the best I’ve tasted.”

Fred added: “The lobster was sweet and so moist with the sauce Gordon made, it was very good.”

Gino’s highlight was the souvlaki (grilled meat on a skewer).

He said: “Myself and Gordon worked well together in a souvlaki showdown with the locals.”

THE LOCATION

All three agreed that Greece was glorious.

“We went in May,” said Fred. “The sun was shining, the water was warm and I have always wanted to go to Santorini.

“It was completely empty. It was just Gordon, Gino and I walking the street. It was incredible, because I will never experience Santorini like that again.”

The adventurous trio also explored the monasteries of Meteora and enjoyed the party island of Mykonos, and the sights of Athens.

THE HIGHLIGHTS

Despite his daughter Andrea being an Olympic diver, Fred didn’t enjoy swimming underwater for lobster – his favourite part of the trip bit was exploring Athens, and he votes for Gino as captain.

“Gordon doesn’t like having someone else take control, so he just complains,” said Fred.

Gino added: “I loved being able to captain the boat and making the guys says ‘Yes Cap!’ to me.”

Gordon’s best part of the trip was the truffle hunting.

He explained: “I’m always excited to go truffle hunting and PS, someone gets naked again, and no, it’s not me.”
