HARD TO STAY AWAY
ABSTINENCE (4.15) can continue Ralph Beckett’s winning streak in the Beckford Stakes at Bath.
The filly recorded a career best when third to Golden Pass in a warm Newmarket Listed contest.
The three-year-old was staying-on nicely over 1m 4f that day so she can triumph up two furlongs.
BASCULE (4.50) should shade a trappy staying handicap for in-form handler Richard
Hughes. The gelding built on fine efforts when defeating Jawhary over 1m 4f at Lingfield.
That race is working out well so this strong-traveller can defy a lenient 4lb penalty over 1m 6f.
LAMORNA COVE (5.55) could well land the odds for handler David Menuisier in the last.
The filly shaped like her turn was near when just denied by
solid yardstick Voltaic at Ffos Las.
KOLISI (3.15) can extend William Haggas’ excellent run on a competitive card at Nottingham. The gelding bounced back when giving the progressive Platinumcard most resistance at Ayr.
The three-year-old is open to plenty of progress and can go one better here.
POPPY PETAL (3.50) may blossom for Keith Dalgleish in a tricky-looking nursery. The two-year-old stayed on track with a cracking second to Princess Shabnam at Catterick.
That is strong form so this consistent type should deny rivals for her in-form yard.
RAASEL (4.25) can seal a hat-trick for ultra-shrewd handler Michael Appleby. The sprinter was better than ever when beating Not On Your Nellie over track and trip.
The gelding can shrug off a 5lb rise under William Buick.
YCCS PORTOCERVO (3.23) can bag the feature chase at Wetherby for Dr Richard Newland.
The grey can prevail with a repeat of his good second to talented Oscar Rose at Perth.
Jennie Candlish has hit peak form so I’m rowing in with CATCHMEIFYOUCAN (3.58). The mare should relish return to three miles after her narrow loss to Calliope at Cartmel.
Pam Sly is also flying so I’m backing TAKEIT EASY (5.05) in the two-miler.
