SCOTLAND MANBYMAN
CRAIG GORDON
Made a terrific first-half stop. Had to be alive for a few other routine saves and was busier than he had hoped in the first period. His usual reliable self.
JACK HENDRY
He was moved out to the right. Was strong and physical in the tackle and looked to step forward and take the ball. Replaced in a tactical switch.
GRANT HANLEY
Defender returned from suspension. He had a running physical scrap with Edmundson all night. In fairness, he didn’t lose too many of his battles.
KIERAN TIERNEY
The Arsenal man got forward and got more joy than Robertson did up the left. Tried his best to drive the team on in the second period.
RYAN FRASER
Has found first-team football lacking at Newcastle. Given his chance on the right but didn’t get into the game as much as he would have liked.
SCOTT McTOMINAY
Saturday’s goal hero was moved into the middle of the park. He had a firsthalf shot pushed wide. Dropped back into defence later.
BILLY GILMOUR
He scurried around the pitch keeping the ball and the play moving. He also tried to get forward and fired a late shot that went agonisingly wide.
ANDY ROBERTSON
This was one of the captain’s quieter games. He never really got the space to gallop forward like we come to expect. Kept plugging away though.
JOHN McGINN
Didn’t get much change out Faroese. Earmarked as a danger man before the game. Went close with a header he probably should’ve scored.
RYAN CHRISTIE
He got the shout to replace the injured Che Adams. Gave it his all but didn’t hit the levels he has done in past on a frustrating evening for him.
LYNDON DYKES
Led the line. He tried hard but didn’t reach previous heights until he was in right place at right time to bundle in a vital winner.
