DS 4 family hatchback set to come to the fore

-

UPMARKET car maker DS has revealed prices and specs for its new DS 4 family hatchback – due to hit UK roads by the end of the year.

And the variety of versions and competitive showroom tags on offer from the premium French brand should make it a winner.

Three distinct models will be available, with sporty Performance Line and SUV-inspired Cross variants joining the standard car – and each will be offered with a selection of trims and engine choices.

Kicking things off will be the DS 4 Bastille+ priced at £25,350, Performance Line versions cost from £26,850, while the Cross starts from £29,450.

The range tops out with the Cross Rivoli E-TENSE 225, featuring a leather-clad interior and loads of driver assistance systems and hi-tech gadgets, with a forecourt label of £40,700.

The E-TENSE 225 is a plug-in hybrid powertrain with CO2 emissions from 30g/km and a choice of three PureTech petrol engines –130, 180 and 225 – as well as a BlueHDi 130 diesel. All powertrains are mated to an eight-speed automatic gearbox.

Technology available includes the new DS IRIS system – a full HD touchscreen infotainment system supported by overthe-air updates and natural voice recognition.

To make the system more intuitive, a small, additional touchscreen can be fitted below the car’s centre console with customisable shortcuts and handwriting recognition, while a wide-view head-up display projects key information on to the windscreen.

The DS 4 can also be specified with a semi-autonomous drive mode and a night vision system that uses an infrared camera to project potential hazards into the driver’s display.

DS Automobiles UK boss Jules Tilstone said: “The all-new DS 4 is the next evolution of the DS model range, offering a new, striking design, efficient powertrains and class-leading technology.

“I’m excited for UK customers to experience our unique take on the premium hatchback. With three variants to choose from, the DS 4 is a vehicle that will perfectly match the needs and tastes of UK customers.”
