Strictly Shirley cancer fear

- BY MARK JEFFERIES

SHIRLEY Ballas is having an underarm lump checked by a doctor after Strictly viewers noticed the potentially cancerous growth.

The head judge on the BBC One’s Strictly Come Dancing revealed she had been inundated with messages of concern by fans of the show on social media, after they spotted what looked like a lump in her right armpit.

And after doing a self-check, the 61-year-old former ballroom champion said she could feel a “tiny little node” and will have a check-up this week.

In a video on Instagram, Shirley said: “Last week and the week before, I got some alarming messages from people who said when I picked my arm up they could see lumps or bumps or nodes.

“I did some self-checks. I couldn’t feel anything except a tiny little node at the back. I am going to go to the doctor’s on Tuesday. To those who were concerned enough to message me they saw lumps and bumps, I thank you.”

Shirley said that she had received “many messages over the last three weeks” about the suspected lump.

In 2019, the choreographer underwent a four-hour operation to have her breast implants removed, also due to cancer fears.

And Shirley hopes young women will learn to love their bodies, rather than get “all

KIND CONCERN these procedures”. She said: “Don’t think you need to have these procedures to make you look more attractive. “For young women, if someone is making you feel bad about yourself, talk to someone. But don’t do what I did.

“You can’t make somebody love you, no matter what you do to yourself. You can get... all these procedures. But it does not make a difference.

“If they don’t love you, they won’t no matter what you do to your appearance. “It’s learning to love yourself.” Shirley made the decision to remove her DD

A viewer’s note breast implants and embrace her natural A-cup shape after she discovered a potentially dangerous capsule had grown inside her chest.

She added: “Do your research about the implants.

“I did not do mine. I thought if I put them in I’d look better and my husband would think of me as more desirable.

“I made this choice many years ago, not understanding what I was really doing.”

Shirley suffered a cancer scare in June, after finding a lump in her shoulder. She has also had two other cancer scares, so is anxiously awaiting her check-up.

The star’s family history is also a concern, as Shirley’s mum Audrey was diagnosed with colon cancer in 2019, and her grandmother and aunt have battled the disease too.
