DAD’S DEATH ‘CLOSED WOUND’
ADELE has told of her reconciliation with her estranged father whose death closed her “biggest wound”.
The chart-topping singer, 33, said his “absolute lack of presence and effort” caused her childhood trauma.
And she said a therapist had encouraged her to address her “sad” seven-year-old self during their sessions.
Adele played dad Marc Evans her new album 30 before his death in April. It contains a song about their strained ties, To Be Loved.
She said of their reunion: “It was very, very healing [and] when he died, it was like the wound closed up.”
Prior to their meeting, Marc, who left Adele when she was a toddler, had only heard her track Hometown Glory.
Speaking to Oprah Winfrey in a CBS special aired in the US on Sunday, she said: “We found our peace together.”
Adele also told how she had zero expectations of people because she learned not to have them through her dad who had booze problems.
She said: “He was the reason I haven’t fully accessed what it is to be in a loving, loving relationship with somebody.”
Adele added ex-husband Simon Konecki, who shares son Angelo, nine, “saved her life” but she “disrespected” marriage by ending theirs so quickly. She said she is “divorcing herself” on her album that details their 2019 split.
She also praised US boyfriend Rich Paul, a sports agent, for being “hilarious and very smart”.
Speaking of her 7st weight loss, the Londoner said she initially started working out to cope with her anxiety.
She added: “My body has been objectified my entire career. I’m either too big or too small; I’m hot or I’m not.”
