QUOTE OF THE DAY

-

‘If you take Gers’ League Cup win away, the “most successful team in the world” aren’t even the most successful in Glasgow’ and see how good he really is as the season unfolds.”

Bud Hay, Dumfries, said: “I nearly choked on my cornflakes when I read David Bryce saying Rangers are going to win the Premiership. Talk about counting your chickens before they hatch. When Celtic beat them at Paradise come January, we’ll be top!”

Paul McArdle, Gourock, said: “Rangers fans must live in a parallel universe. They’re already out of a cup and can’t do the Treble. Celtic are in a final and still in European competition last time I looked. We’ve played all the top six away from home while they still have Pittodrie, Tynecastle and Paradise to go to!”

Gordon Ashley, Ayr, defended Celtic’s involvement in the Europa Conference League, and said: “How ironic is it that the third biggest Euro competition that Rangers fans are slagging Celtic off for being in is the same third biggest Euro competition that is the greatest achievement in their club’s history.

“I wonder what their Barcelona heroes would make of them belittling their glory night?”

And Brian McColligan said: “I’ve got to laugh at the usual suspects on the Hotline devaluing the League Cup. If you take Rangers’ League Cup wins off their achievements, the self-proclaimed “most successful team in the world” would not even be the most successful team in Glasgow.”

But Rangers fan John Bruce said: “This time last year, with their team sitting on 30 points after 13 games, the Celtic fans were so outraged at their team that they took to the car park at Parkhead in a heated demonstration, even attacking their own team’s bus.

“This season, the ‘vastly improved’ team – who are playing scintillating football under the new manager – have now played one more game, yet have one point less (29 points after 14 games). And are still behind in the league. Is this really improvement?”
