Chippy serves up deep-fried Christmas trimmings
A CHIPPY that’s been serving deep-fried Brussels sprouts and pigs in blankets in the lead-up to Christmas has run out due to demand.
Gino’s Fryer, in Largs, has been battering and frying festive dinner trimmings for four years. Cafe staff even fry sprouts in the summer on request for some customers.
A portion of ten sprouts costs £1 while five pigs in blankets go for £2.95.
Owner Franca Sheridan, 53, said: “The sprouts are just so popular – there as many haters as there are lovers. I’ve had to replenish stock already because they’re so popular.”
The gran-of-two added: “When I post about them on Facebook, I get so many messages.
“We keep it going until the first week of January. We’re busy all the time, regardless as to whether it’s the winter or not.” Franca added: “Every year people ask for them – even in the summer – but we just keep it in the run-up to Christmas.”
