Molester preyed on children
A WOMAN who sexually abused two children for so long they thought it was normal has been jailed for three years.
In a depraved campaign from 2002 to 2016, Susan Abbott forced a boy to watch pornography and made him carry out sex acts as she molested him.
Abbott, 47, also made a girl perform indecent acts and assaulted both children after bingeing on Buckfast and vodka.
The first victim, now an adult, recalled “watching porn on the telly” with Abbott when she was looking after him, Kilmarnock Sheriff Court heard.
He said Abbott abused him when she “didn’t have a boyfriend” and he “eventually became numb to it”.
He also told how he tried to restrain Abbott when he heard “screaming and crying” from the girl Abbott was also looking after.
The other victim, also now an adult, said she suffers flashbacks. She too came to think the abuse was normal.
A jury found Abbott, of Dalmellington, Ayrshire, guilty of two charges of lewd and libidinous behaviour, two of assault and one of sexual assault.
Sheriff David Hall said the abuse affected the victims’ ability to trust, adding: “The psychological effects are potentially lifelong.”
