RECORD readers reacted angrily to Boris Johnson’s apology at PMQs yesterday over a lockdown Xmas party at Number 10.

The PM said he was “furious” after a video emerged of his then media secretary Allegra Stratton joking about the party, in a practice press conference.

The bash is said to have taken place last December 18 amid Covid restrictions. Stratton has now resigned, saying she would “regret those remarks for the rest of my days”.

Readers logged on to the Record’s Facebook page to give their views.

Katie Louise Rice wrote: “If that was any other politician a resignation would be handed in. Get him out, an absolute embarrassment.” Elayne Rose said: “This man is a complete and utter buffoon.”

But others felt that the PM had done enough to address the situation.

Sandra Ross wrote: “The PM has apologised for someone else’s failings and will deal with them.”

Liz Duff said: “No amount of arguing is going to help the situation.”
