IT’S OH NO FOR KYOGONEXT

-

Japanese ace to pull up with a hamstring in the chaotic 3-2 victory over the Spaniards.

Postecoglou also has hitman Gio Giakoumakis on the sidelines and is facing up to the prospect of having no strikers for the festive campaign.

He said: “We’ll see. Yeah, it’s not good. We’ll just wait and see what the assessment is.

“Obviously we were prepared to give Kyogo a bit less time tonight but with Albian also getting a hamstring, we’re going through a bit of a rough trot which never seems to end but we’ll cope.

“We’ve a few injuries but the amount of games we’re playing, it’s just ridiculous, to be fair.

“We don’t have the squad to hope with that at the moment.

“Luckily tonight we got some 90 minutes into players who will help us moving forward.”

Postecologou started an entirely new XI but eventually needed to call on his regulars as they edged out the Spaniards in a thriller.

He said: “Credit to the lads. They put in a massive shift tonight, quite a few of them haven’t played 90 minutes for quite a while.

“We went at them, had to fight hard.

“Pleased for the players who got their rewards especially the boys who started and haven’t played for a while.

“Physically, the way we play our football, it’s not easy. I said to them after the game, that’s why they work hard every day.”

A section of Hoops fans staged a silent protest against the appointment of top cop Bernard Higgins to the club.

Postecoglou said: “I don’t think the fans are not onside. They support us as they always do.

“I would prefer it as loud as it possibly could be because that’s why they come to the game, to get on their feet and cheer the team.”

Super sub Ewan Hewnderson scored with his first touch for the second goal before David Turnbull’s penalty sealed the win.

Henderson and said: “I’m really happy with the goal. I’ve been working hard behind the scenes so it’s great to get my first goal for Celtic.

“It was the best feeling in the world, I was so happy. With Mikey Johnston setting me up it was a great moment for the youth academy as we came through together.

“I’ve wanted to get my first goal since I came in to the first-team squad. I’m just delighted to get it.”

Henderson is loving Postecoglou’s gung-ho style of play.

He said: “We love attacking. Sometime sit opens you up defensively, but we are scoring so many goals.

“All the boys are loving the way we are playing. It’s been excellent since the manager came in.”

The youngster reckons the stand-ins made their case for top-team chances.

He said: “All of the boys who played are working so hard in training.

“The standard is so high when you go in, everyone expects to step up and do well. Everyone got pass marks tonight. They were fantastic.

“It gives you a taste. When you come through the academy you dream of playing for the first team and hopefully there will be many more chances.

“It’s good to win the last Europa League game. There are so many games coming up that every player has done their bit to try to get in the team.”
