KASH RETIRAL STUNS BOXING
BOXING KASH FAROOQ last night shocked Scottish boxing by retiring at the age of just 26.
The Pakistan-born Glaswegian had been widely tipped to challenge for a world title having become a key part of Eddie Hearn’s Matchroom stable over the past two years.
There had also been talk of a much-anticipated rematch with Edinburgh’s Lee McGregor, the only fighter to defeat Farooq in his 17-fight professional career in November 2019.
Instead the bantamweight has been forced into hanging up his gloves, disappointing boxing fans throughout the country and beyond.
He will stay in the sport as the St Andrew’s Sporting Club’s Head of Talent having been with the group since his professional debut in 2015.
A statement from St Andrew’s said: “It will come as a shock but due to unforeseen circumstances, we regret to announce that Kash Farooq is hanging up his gloves and retiring from professional boxing.
“We are truly honoured to have been given the privilege to guide the bantamweight through his
