LEAGUE TWO WHAT a difference a couple of weeks can make.
On Boxing Day, Joe Cardle and his Kelty teammates were left licking their wounds on the back of a 5-1 bashing by Annan.
The result marked their first league defeat of the season but on Saturday normal service resumed in a 3-0 victory over Stirling Albion at Forthbank.
Cardle once again played a major role with a second half double after fellow star Nathan Austin shot them into a 1-0 interval lead.
He said: “We’re delighted to win but know we can push our levels up, getting the ball down and playing our sort of football.
“The three points were crucial today and we’re just happy to be back on track after the hiccup.”
Gary Irvine praised his Forfar side’s mentality after winning 3-2 at home to Stranraer to end a run of back-to-back defeats.
Josh Walker gave the Blues the lead but Scott Shepherd pulled Forfar level from the spot before Grant Anderson capitalised on a goalkeeping error.
Shepherd got his second with another spot kick but Tommy Muir set up a tense finish to the game.
Annan extended their unbeaten run to eight games as they won 3-1 at 10-man Cowdenbeath who slipped 11 points adrift at the foot.
Tony Wallace put Annan ahead from 12 yards before Liam Buchanan equalised. Tommy Goss helped the visitors regain the lead before the break with Cowden captain Craig Barr seeing red as Aidan Smith wrapped up the win.
Edinburgh City have handed Michael Travis a deal after he netted in their 2-2 draw with Elgin City.
