Greg’s real pal to deny Owen goal

-

ANNAN hero Greg Fleming pulled off a string of fabulous saves to preserve a point in a 2-2 draw with Forfar – but reckoned his best was from team-mate Owen Moxon.

Clutching a bottle of bubbly as the sponsors’ man of the match, the Galabank No.1 said: “My favourite save was early in the second half with the deflection off Moxy.

“I managed to get a hand on it and put the ball around the post which is something we do in training – deflections in front of me. That’s nine in a row without a defeat.”

The Galabankies had a dream start when Tommy Goss headed past Mark McCallum in four minutes.

But the Loons levelled in controversial style after Steven Anderson appeared to handle in the box before setting up Andy Munro.

And a minute from the interval the Loons went ahead with a magnificent volley by Craig Slater.

Just four minutes into the second half Slater piledriver took a nick off Moxon and looked destined for the bottom left with Fleming going the other way – but the keeper twisted his body to paw on the ball away superbly.

Galabankies equalised in 57 minutes following a penalty-box scramble where Aidan Smith netted.

Cowdenbeath boss Maurice Ross praised his side’s humility after they beat Stenhousemuir 2-0 for their first win of the season.

Robbie Buchanan and Bobby Barr bagged the goals and Ross said: “I’m pleased for the players because they are giving their maximum and the way they went about their business is testament to their ability and humility.”

Kelty Hearts remain seven points clear at the top despite throwing away a two-goal lead against Edinburgh City.

Joe Cardle scored in each half but Danny Handling and Jack Brydon rescued a 2-2 draw.

Stranraer scored a 95th-minute penalty to draw 3-3 at home to Stirling Albion.

Jack Leitch put the Binos ahead but efforts from Tommy Muir and Darryl Duffy got Stranraer’s noses in front.

Kieran Moore and Adam Cummins scored for Albion but Matty Yates levelled.

Cammy Binnie saved a penalty to help 10-man Albion Rovers hold on for a point, drawing 1-1 at Elgin.

Kane Hester scored his first spot-kick before Sean Fagan equalised, with trialist Peter Watson sent off. Hester saw his second penalty saved by Binnie.
