The seven-year-old stayed upwardly mobile with a terrific second to Kiltealy Briggs at Musselburgh.
The gelding was staying on strongly over 2m 4f so he looks all set to continue his yard’s excellent run up in trip.
Nick Alexander is hitting form so I’m backing TRAVAIL D’ORFEVRE (1:00) in a tricky opener. The hurdler caught the eye when giving the talented Soft Risk most resistance over two miles here.
The grey was doing all his best work late so he can make a winning handicap debut upped a mile.
The Kinross ace can double up with ELVIS MAIL (2:00) in the Timeform Handicap Hurdle. The four-time course winner returned to form when chasing home Stainsby Girl over track and trip.
The gelding remains welltreated on his peak form so he can turn the tables on his old rival today.
Some exciting types clash in the novices’ hurdle but I’m on Donald McCain’s GREY SKIES (1:30). The gelding absolutely bolted up from Charlie’s Glance on debut for his current yard at Uttoxeter.
The grey clearly has a bright future so he should stretch his unbeaten run to two under Brian Hughes.
Chris Grant’s CHASE A FORTUNE (4:10) can fill our pockets by landing the closing bumper. The gelding can triumph with a repeat of his debut second to Ontherouge at Sedgefield.
There are also some decent bets on the Flat at Lingfield, headed by Pat Phelan’s DEVIZES (1:40).
The gelding still lurks on a winning mark after his good second to Donya over course and distance.
SHOOT TO KILL (3:15) can complete a four-timer for Robyn Brisland in the AWC Handicap. The gelding remains nicely unexposed for his current handler after chinning Diderot at this venue.
Stuart Williams’ WYVERN (3:45) can turn up the heat in the trappy Coral Handicap.
And STORM ASSET (4:20) looks good to blow his rivals away in the sprint.
