Imrie gets hammered by SFA for bet breach
MORTON boss Dougie Imrie has been hit with a 10-game ban for breaching SFA betting rules – and the club are considering launching an appeal.
Imrie was among a group of players and coaches cited by the compliance officer for offences between 2011 and 2021.
The first of Imrie’s six charges dates back to when he was a player at Hamilton Accies.
Four of the matches are suspended, meaning the Ton boss will immediately serve six games.
Imrie kept his focus on today’s clash with Accies, saying: “It’s a big game for a lot of reasons.
“We have got to go to Hamilton with the same attitude we showed in the second half last week against Queen of the South. We have to keep pushing.”
A Ton statement read: “The club are disappointed with the severity of the punishment.
“We have requested a full explanation from the panel. Upon receipt of that explanation, the club will discuss with Dougie the possibility of an appeal.”
Meanwhile, Hamilton boss Stuart Taylor is relishing taking on the league’s form side.
He said: “Morton are the best team in the league on latest form and that is the way we will treat it.
“We know it’s going to be a really tough game with the form they are in. Dougie has quite rightly got Manager of the Month as they have done really well.
“I’ve known him from the time I was here before. Back then, he was a giveeverything type player and was different to anything else we had at the club.
“He turned out to be a great signing and has taken that hunger, desire and passion into his career in management.”
