Aberdeen are expected to confirm Goodwin’s appointmen­t today and he will be at Fir Park for the Premiershi­p clash with Motherwell.

An Aberdeen statement read: “The club has been given permission by St Mirren to talk to Jim Goodwin regarding the vacant managerial position.

“We will make a formal announceme­nt when the process to secure a new manager is complete.”

Meanwhile, the Buddies have also asked Aberdeen to speak to their captain Brown over their vacant managerial position as they immediatel­y begin planning for Goodwn’s departure.

And the Dons will let the skipper speak to their Premiershi­p rivals.
