The Strictly Come Dancing host has revealed her clothes on the show are themed for each series – and have included a tribute to EastEnders’ leopard print-loving Pat Butcher. And the vintage Walford inspiration did not stop with earring-laden Pat, played by Pam St Clement, left. Claudia, 50, said she’s also given a sartorial nod to Anita Dobson – Angie Watts in the soap. Her dressing room for the BBC1 dance contest is even kitted out to match each year’s theme. Claudia, who has hosted Strictly since 2010 alongside Tess Daly, said: “At Strictly – I’ve never told anybody this – we always base my outfits on a different theme. It could be a person, a place. One year I was Andre Agassi, when I had long bits in my hair, and we put turf in my dressing room.
“I’ve done Pam St Clement, Slash from Guns N’ Roses, I had a Joan Rivers moment, Sharon Osbourne, Anita Dobson, Rob Kardashian, Elton John, Mr Darcy from Pride and Prejudice.
“My favourite was when we dressed the whole series as Sexy Fish, the restaurant in London.”
Last year she adopted a French theme and had the flag on her floor.
Co-host Tess, 53, often needs long sleeves because Claudia squeezes her arm when suffering from nerves before going live, she said on her Behind the Fringe tour in Guildford, Surrey.
She said: “If Tess is ever wearing anything long-sleeved or an upper-arm garment it is because I have squeezed her because I get really, really scared.”
She adds of her pal: “Tess is adorable. She is funny, kind and clever.
“She is a phenomenal human being.”
