ISOLATION RULES AXED

PEOPLE with Covid will no longer have to selfisolat­e from Sunday after rules in Scotland were scrapped.

Testing centres will be closed and contact tracing ended as the pandemic moves into a”different phase”.

The Scottish Government is instead advising people who feel unwell to stay at home to reduce the risk of spreading the virus.

IT’S OVER Mass testing be available for people who work in the health or social care sectors, are visiting hospitals or care homes or are receiving treatment, unpaid carers or people in prison.

Health Secretary Humza Yousaf said: “The primary purpose of testing is changing from population-wide testing to reduce transmissi­on, to a targeted response focused on reducing severe harm of the virus.”

The Protect Scotland contact tracing app will be shut down “shortly” but people are advised to keep it on their phones.

The NHS will be taken off an emergency footing from the end of Saturday.
