Medics clash over murder accused dad
TWO senior consultant psychiatrists are in conflict over the mental state of a man who admitted killing his son, two, a court heard.
Dr Khuram Khan assessed Lukasz Czapla, 41, after his son Julius was found dead at his flat in Muirhouse, Edinburgh, in November 2020.
He said Czapla, 41, has Emotionally Unstable Personality Disorder.
Dr Alexander Quinn agreed that Czapla was “depressive”, but dismissed Dr Khan’s diagnosis, saying it “was not severe”.
The High Court in Edinburgh has heard Czapla took an overdose of anti-depressants and drank alcohol on the night his son was killed, with the intention of taking his own life.
Czapla denies murdering Julius. The trial continues.
