Make mine a large one – a 547pint dram

- BY SEAN MURPHY

The world’s largest bottle of Scotch whisky is set to go on auction in Edinburgh.

The Intrepid stands at 5ft 11in and is filled with a record-breaking 547 pints of 32-year-old Macallan single malt whisky.

It will be auctioned in Edinburgh by Lyon & Turnbull, with 25 per cent of any amount achieved over £1.3million donated to the Marie Curie charity.

The auction, which will be live online from noon on May 25, is set to attract interest from bidders across the globe.

It is hoped the bottle may break the world record for the most expensive bottle of whisky sold, which is $1.9million.

The Intrepid was certified by Guinness World Records when it was bottled last year.
